Second Life - Business' novel way to reach customers in a virtual world

Several well-known corporations such as Michelin, IBM and Xerox have begun to use Second Life as an efficient means of communication. Second Life is a virtual environment in which anyone can create an individual. This application allows direct interaction among associates as well as with potential costumers. Many corporations use this program to host meetings, build samples, and allow keynote speakers to lecture to certain groups. Second Life allows users to communicate with one another via text or virtual chatting, or private discussions can be maintained among authorized groups. There is also a way for smaller groups of individuals to form in order to discuss issues more intimately.
I hope to one day become a doctor and I think that Second Life would allow for much more efficient conference calls among doctors within different hospitals. Because doctors are constantly gathering the most information about complicated patients as possible, I think that this application would allow conference calls to be held much more often and with less inconvenience to their busy schedules.

GIN System

The Group Interactive Network System, also known as the GIN system is an application that allows organizations, whether academic or social, a simple communication solution. It has several tools that allow master programs, student organizations, non-profit organizations, and even athletic associations to keep all members well informed. A very important feature of the GIN system is that it incorporates Facebook so members can receive all the updates, whether it is announcements, files or discussions, using their Facebook accounts. Some of the GIN system tools include; unlimited email/text messaging groups, an online calendar with an automatic reminder aspect, online member directory, online surveys, event signups, discussion boards, and most importantly a who’s in my classes feature.
My sorority uses this application to keep its members posted about upcoming events and fundraisers going on. College life is extremely busy, and I can only imagine master’s programs. My favorite feature about this application is the ability for members to post their class schedule so that you can find out who else is in your classes. Because LSU is such a large university, and my sorority is such a large organization, I find that this is an extremely beneficial program.

iFitness - the cell phone application that helps you drop the lbs...

iFitness takes care of personal trainer fees, and can help eliminate injury while working out in the gym without the proper instruction. This application provides images of people performing over 200 exercises, sorted by body area or the muscle it targets specifically. Simply type in a certain muscle, select the exercise and an image of the exercise comes up. If you double tap on the picture, step-by-step instructions are given. Customers can also create their own workout schedules down to various days and iFitness enables you to track your own progress and weight loss. There are also 10 routines designed to focus on anything from weight loss to strength building. This application provides ideas for exercises in the gym including free weights, exercise balls, machines, or no equipment.
It is easy to get into a boring routine when you go to the gym on a regular basis. Everyone has areas of their body that they are unhappy with, or that they to work on to maintain being in shape. Because this application has images and instructions, I know that it would be a lot easier for me to use even while I am working out! I enjoy working out, and this application would bring new possibilities to an otherwise monotonous routine.
